What do I need to rent my car? Legal checklist

Before you start renting your vehicle on TripWip, it's important to ensure that it meets all legal requirements. This quick guide helps you verify that everything is in order so you can list your car with peace of mind and without issues.


✅ 1. Be the owner of the vehicle (or have authorization)

The car must be in your name or have authorization from the owner to be listed on the platform.


✅ 2. Valid registration

Your vehicle must have a registration (or identification card) .


✅ 3. Paid license and no debts

Before listing your car, check that:

  • It is correctly registered

  • It has no license debts

  • It has no unpaid fines


✅ 4. Up-to-date insurance (In case of Argentina)

The vehicle must have active coverage:

  • You can use the TripWip insurance (automatic per day), or

  • you can also opt for your own insurance with a non-driver rental clause

⚠️ Common personal insurance does not cover rentals unless it includes that specific clause.


✅ 5. Good mechanical condition

The car must be in safe conditions to drive. It is not necessary to undergo a prior inspection, but the vehicle must:

  • Brake properly

  • Have functioning lights

  • Be free of serious faults

  • Not have broken windows or worn tires


✅ 6. Additional documentation (if applicable)

Have on hand:

  • SOA or mandatory insurance (in Uruguay)

  • Valid VTV (in Argentina)

  • Circulation permit, if applicable in your city

Make sure the papers are in the car at the time of delivery.
