How is fuel managed?

At TripWip, we aim for the rental experience to be simple and transparent for all users. That's why fuel is managed under the following policy:

Updated today

1. Fuel level at the start of the rental
When you pick up the vehicle, it must have a fuel level determined by the host. We encourage all our hosts to deliver the vehicle with a full tank. We recommend checking and taking a photo of the fuel level before starting your trip.

2. Fuel level when returning the vehicle

At the end of your rental, you must return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had when you received it. If you did not receive the vehicle with a full tank, don't worry. The important thing is to return it in the same condition you received it. If you return the car with less fuel, the host may report it, and the following charges will apply based on the situation:

Uruguay:

tank less than full but greater than ¾ $500, tank less than ¾ but greater than ½ $1500, tank less than ½ $2000.

Mexico:

tank less than full but greater than ¾ 500 MXN, tank less than ¾ but greater than ½ 750 MXN, tank less than ½ 1,000 MXN.

Argentina

tank less than full but greater than ¾ 45,000 ARS, tank less than ¾ but greater than ½ 75,000 ARS, tank less than ½ 100,000 ARS.

3. What to do if the fuel level does not match at the start?

If the fuel level does not match what is indicated in the app or in the agreed condition when you receive the car, notify TripWip support immediately through the app. This way we can help you resolve the situation.

4. What happens if I return the car with more fuel?

If you return the vehicle with more fuel than you received, no refunds or compensations are made, so we recommend refueling only what is necessary to avoid additional costs.

If you have questions about fuel management at TripWip, our support team is available to help you. Enjoy your trip!
