TripWip is a digital platform that connects vehicle owners with people who want to rent them quickly, flexibly, and securely, without the need for bureaucracy or in-person procedures. We operate in Uruguay, Mexico, and Argentina, as a peer-to-peer solution for car rentals.
How does TripWip work for hosts?
If you have a car that you don't use all the time and want to generate income, TripWip allows you to turn it into a source of revenue. Here’s how the process works:
1. Registration and vehicle listing
You create your account using the app or website, upload photos of the car and details such as availability, daily price, mileage, location, and specific conditions.
You can set the price manually or allow the platform to suggest it automatically based on dynamic demand-supply rates.
2. Receiving and managing requests
Interested drivers send booking requests. You have the freedom to accept or reject each one as you see fit.
3. Insurance and vehicle protection
Each car comes with an insurance policy provided by the app, covering damages to third parties and the vehicle during the rental. Sancor Seguros in Uruguay, AXA in Mexico, and RUS in Argentina.
In case of damages, photos are taken and compared at the beginning and end of the rental. If there are differences, mediation with TripWip is initiated to resolve it, and insurance may or may not be used depending on whether it exceeds the deductible. The host, as the vehicle owner, is not responsible for any damage.
4. Coordination of delivery and return
You define the delivery and return location.
The schedule is indicated in the booking request you received. If you confirmed, you must adhere to that schedule.
You must deliver the car with a full tank and mandatory items (key, policy, spare tire, extinguisher, hazard lights, first aid kit, documents); the driver then uploads delivery and return photos.
5. Payments and commissions
Uruguay: the driver pays you directly for the rental, via transfer or cash, as you indicate. Payment must be made before the car is delivered.
Mexico and Argentina: The driver pays through TripWip, and then the platform pays the host their earnings after the rental is completed.
6. Usage rules and penalties
It is prohibited to use the car with transportation apps (like Uber, InDrive, etc.), under penalty of violating the insurance and possible immediate cancellation of the rental.
TripWip and the host can impose penalties for late cancellations, no-shows, improper use of the vehicle, or unauthorized extension of the rental for up to two additional chargeable days. Also for fuel discrepancies, traffic violations, unpaid tolls, and damages.
