You can book a car on TripWip using an international card enabled in your country.
The available options may vary depending on the location from which you make the reservation.
Examples by country:
Mexico: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover, JCB, among others.
Argentina: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, among others.
Uruguay: Visa, Mastercard, among others.
Important: prepaid cards are not accepted in any of the three countries.
How many cards can I save
Up to 4 per country. Each country has its own wallet, because payments in each market are processed by a different provider: when you browse cars in another country, the app switches to that country's wallet.
The card doesn't have to be from that country. If you have an international Uruguayan card and you're going to rent in Argentina, you add it to the Argentina wallet and that's it.
The last one you add becomes the default, and at checkout you can choose which one to pay with. How to manage them is in How do I add, change or delete a card?.

These conditions apply when:
You want to confirm a reservation on TripWip.
You need to pay for the vehicle rental.
You need to pay the deposit associated with the rental.
You are booking from any country where TripWip operates.
Steps to pay for your reservation
Select the vehicle and rental dates.
Enter your personal details.
Enter the details of your enabled card.
Confirm the payment within the platform.
The payment is processed directly on TripWip.
Can I pay the owner directly in cash instead of paying through the site?
In Uruguay and Argentina, part of it, yes. When you book, you pay TripWip's fee and the insurance in the app; the host's earnings are paid directly to them when they hand over the car, in cash or by transfer. The amount is shown in the app before the hand-over.
In Mexico, no: 100% of the rental is paid in the app when you book.
What you should never do is book or pay for the whole rental outside TripWip: it's the payment inside the platform that activates the insurance coverage. If a host suggests paying by another means to skip the app's insurance, you're taking a risk and forcing one on you too. If you see instructions that differ from this process, report it using this form.
