Here we explain how to handle a delay in the return and avoid unnecessary fines.
Extend your rental easily
If you know you will need more time with the vehicle, the simplest option is to extend the rental. To do this, follow these steps:
You must select the ongoing rental in the trips tab and press the extend trip button.
You will need to select the new end date. If the vehicle is available, it will allow you to send the extension request to the host.
Once the request is sent, the host can approve it. If they do, the rental details will be updated automatically and the corresponding charge will be made to the payment method entered in the app.
Report the delay if it's unavoidable
If the delay cannot be avoided and you cannot extend the rental for any reason, it is crucial that you inform TripWip as soon as possible. By reporting the delay, we can help you manage the situation and offer you solutions to keep everything in order. You can do this quickly through the app or by contacting our support team.
Fines for not reporting the delay or not extending the rental
If you do not extend the rental or report the delay, a fine will be applied for each additional hour you spend with the vehicle. The fees are as follows:
In Uruguay: 10 USD for each hour of delay.
In Mexico: 200 MXN for each hour of delay.
In Argentina: 13300 ARS for each hour of delay.
We want to avoid you having to pay a fine, so make sure to extend on time or let us know if any issues arise.
Remember:
Make a new reservation to extend the rental at least 12 hours before the scheduled return.
If you cannot make the extension, contact TripWip and let us know about the delay.
Avoid additional charges by staying in touch and managing your time properly.
Failing to notify us of the situation may lead TripWip to take security measures such as intervening in the recovery of the vehicle.
