When you rent a vehicle on TripWip, a security deposit is held to cover possible charges or damage during the rental. That deposit is returned automatically once the process is complete.
How long does the refund take?
TripWip releases the deposit 5 business days after the rental ends. From then on, the refund is processed by the bank that issued your card, so it usually shows up within 5 to 15 business days, depending on the bank.
It works the same in Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico.
Why can it take longer to show up on my statement?
Because there are two separate steps. TripWip releases the hold, but the money is credited to your account by the bank that issued the card, and each bank has its own processing times.
What if there was an incident or an open claim?
If there was an incident or a claim is still open, the hold stays in place until the case is resolved, and the 5-day period doesn't start. We'll keep in touch with you until it's closed.
Will I get a confirmation?
Yes. You'll receive a refund receipt at your registered email once the process is complete. That receipt serves as proof of the refund.
