Learn about the steps taken if the driver suffers an accident during the rental and how TripWip supports you throughout the process.

Updated today

At TripWip, we have a clear process to handle incidents and support you at all times. If your vehicle has an accident during a rental, here’s what you need to know.

What should the driver do?

In case of an accident, the driver must:

  1. Report the incident immediately to the insurance:

    • Sancor (Uruguay): call 0800 8500

    • RUS (Argentina): WhatsApp +54 9 11 3424-9366

    • AXA: 800 900 12 92 and select option 1, option 1.

  2. Report the accident in the TripWip app.

  3. At the time of reporting, the deductible amount will be automatically withheld, according to the insurance category contracted.

🔒 The driver must always assume the cost of the deductible, unless the damage is due to a mechanical failure attributable to poor maintenance of the vehicle or if a responsible third party takes charge.

What happens to my vehicle?

After the report:

  • If the vehicle is severely damaged or cannot be used further, it must be returned to prevent further damage.

  • If the vehicle cannot move on its own, it must be transported by tow truck:

    • Directly to the workshop

    • Or, if not defined, to the host's house temporarily

📞 To coordinate mechanical assistance in Uruguay:
– First, the driver must contact the host if the vehicle has its own service.
– If there is no coverage, they should call Auxicar at 2618 0000 – Option 1, indicating that it is a vehicle rented through TripWip.

What if the car is at my house?

If the vehicle is taken to your home, TripWip will provide you with the contact information of the assigned workshop so you can coordinate the delivery of the car.

And then?

Once the vehicle is at the workshop, TripWip manages the entire process with the insurance and the workshop.
When it is ready, the workshop will contact you to inform you.
